At 21.15 hours on the night of My 16th 1943 a flight of specially prepared Lancaster Bombers led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson of 617 Squadron left Scampton Airfield for a mission so daring, that if successful, would do immense damage to the German war machine and change the course of World War II.
